Charity Event for the American Heart Association

It’s almost time to go play at Pocono racetrack! Sunday September 15th we will be running the pace laps at lunchtime and it’s your opportunity to drive your car on the track at highway speeds behind a pace car.           

The event is a memorial for Ryan Martin a Reisentoter member who has relatives in the Pocono region. This event is made possible by the kindness of Reisentoter region allowing Pocono region to partner up and use the track between sessions at lunchtime. (Thank you Corey) The proceeds from the donations will be given to American Heart Association in Ryan’s honor, with Pocono and Reisentoter PCA as the fundraisers. The minimum donation for the pace laps is $25.00 which will be collected at the time of registration, however, if you would like to give an additional donation or if you are unable to participate that day, but would like to make a donation towards the event, you may send a check written out to Pocono PCA and sent to Ed Slusarczyk at 46 Pebble Beach Dr Hazle Township PA 18202. In the past we have seen people and businesses donate much much more. Thank you to all those that donated in the past and those that participate this year. 

The event will be starting around 11:00 am and include coffee and refreshments compliments of Ryan’s Aunt, Lisa Wahl and widow Julianna Martin. (cars and coffee?). We will have a tent set up by the playground after you go through the tunnel where we will have check-in and refreshments.

The weekend has four other opportunities for fun that may be of interest. RTR is running a high-performance driver education event Friday, Saturday and Sunday (most fun) where students get four sessions each day with an instructor in your car. They also offer an “intro to DE” on Friday that will give you four sessions with an instructor with you in your car for only $149.00. (lots of fun) It’s a perfect way to drive your car in the style in which it was designed safely without fear of getting a “driving award” from law enforcement. The other fun activity is Saturday at lunchtime when the state police is running a special event where you can give special needs children a ride in your vehicle (and score some brownie points with the police!). If you would like to participate, please let us know.
